general FAQ
Our main differentiator is, quite simply, our people. It takes all of us. We invest in our teams and the people who make up those teams, who come from a diverse background of skills, experience, talent, organization, ethnicities, and perspectives. This confluence of backgrounds creates a powerful dynamic in our organizations across all teams, who are single-mindedly focused on one goal: to create the best content for our clients.
We couple this with the best-in-class workflow and process-driven tools, creating efficiency and consistency across all our platforms and Studios. These streamlined tools allow Straub Collaborative to create beautiful content that is Studio ‘agnostic,’ meaning an article shot in Boston, Portland, NYC or Hong Kong is consistent and created at scale.
Pricing is based on full-day and half-day product rates for on-set photography capture production.
Post production is priced at a per-image rate.
There are several advantages to this approach: The per-day or half-day rates account for the set number of staff and resources that can be utilized for all types of production, both e-commerce and editorial, as long as the staff, gear, and studio space remain relatively the same. Whether you request 40 SKUs on a model or 10 SKUs on groups of models in an editorial setting, the production day price is the same.
Post-production is priced per image to account for the various nuances and categories of production. Additionally, if you take a few more images per SKU during your on-model production day, you only pay for the additional post.
We offer robust model casting services at additional charges. We offer model scheduling/booking included in our per-day rate production fees for scheduling known models from an agreed-upon roster at agreed-upon rates.
We price technology as a separate line item to provide transparency to our partners regarding their spending on technology compared to production or post costs. Our technology systems are either pre-configured with a set data configuration or customized to your data feed and shot composition. The pre-configured option is less expensive, while the customized option uses an assumptive integration plan that changes in scope, cost, and timeline after a discovery phase.
When considering pricing comparisons to an in house solution We find that often times CAPEX costs are not included in the total production cost or the per image cost. when making the comparisons, confirm the total cost are included so that your organization is receiving the best value. Our goal is to ensure you are receiving the best price, Damn Good Content, and the best value for your investment.
We are fortunate to support the world’s largest apparel and footwear brands under contract. Due to the legal requirements and intellectual property rights within our Professional Service Agreements we cannot publicly disclose our clients. If requested as part, we will provide a client list with contact information. Our clients are delighted to be a reference contact and share the success they have had with us.
At Straub Collaborative, we understand the importance of maintaining brand consistency while managing multiple clients. Our approach is structured around three key principles: dedicated teams, standardized processes, and robust communication.
Dedicated Teams: We assign dedicated teams to each client, ensuring team members become familiar with the client’s brand guidelines, values, and objectives. A dedicated Project Manager is at the nexus of all communications between client and production teams. Building a strong foundational relationship between our organizations allows us to tailor our services to meet the unique needs of each client while maintaining a high level of consistency. Project Management is the ‘heart’ of our organization, and we host weekly meetings with our clients both on the operation and creative side to ensure that we are meeting expectations. We also use these meetings to provide our clients with ‘best practices’ ideas that can support efficiencies and potential cost savings.
Standardized Processes: We have developed standardized processes and workflows across all projects. These include detailed brand guidelines, quality control checklists, and regular review cycles. By adhering to these processes, we ensure that every piece of work aligns with the client’s brand standards.
Robust Communication: Effective communication is at the heart of our operations. We maintain open lines of communication with our clients through regular meetings, progress reports, and feedback sessions. This ongoing dialogue helps us stay aligned with our client’s evolving needs and ensures that any adjustments are made promptly and accurately. We also believe establishing a communication hierarchy promotes decision-making and having the appropriate level involved. This creates efficiencies and establishes appropriate guardrails.
By combining these principles, Straub Collaborative delivers consistent, high-quality results for each client, regardless of the number of projects we manage simultaneously.
While every client is slightly different based on specific needs, We use a three phase, nine step workflow that is as follows:
Pre-Production Phase
1. Data Transfer
2. PM Project Set Up & Client Confirmation
3. Sample Receipt & Prep
Production Phase
4. Production Schedule
5. Photo / Video Shoot
6. Selects
Post-Production Phase
7. Post Production & Post Production Review
8. Delivery to DAM
9. Sample Return & Archive
Depending on the production timeline, a sample is either routed for immediate production or assigned to a storage system for a later date when production minimums are reached per the SLA.
Straub’s sample management services include a dedicated, climate-controlled sample storage area. When samples arrive at our facilities, the shipping and receiving managers assign a unique number. Each sample is tagged with a printed scannable bar code that includes the naming convention, product information, and other relevant tracking information. The sample tag lives with the product throughout its production cycle from receive to outbound enabling ease of identification and tracking along the workflow.
We have space and technology to store sample temporarily or long term. Our shipping and Management managers at each location oversee our storage system to ensure your products and samples are safely and securely stored and accessible at a moments notice.
Imagery can be delivered within 7 business days provided all accompanying samples to complete the desired outfit are also received at the same time or earlier. Sample procurement can make this difficult to establish a standard SLA for on-model imagery.

New Client Onboarding FAQ
Our end-to-end e-commerce photography lifecycle begins with a thorough discovery and new phased onboarding process to understand client needs, review technology requirements, and align to the brand standards.
Typically, the technology onboarding process requires three months prior to day one of production. We then move to pre-production, where brand style guides are created and provided to our production teams, talent is cast, and production set requirements are defined and tested. During production, we conduct production with real-time quality control, followed by post-production editing and retouching. Finally, we deliver the final images, assist with integration, and gather client and team feedback through a project retrospective meeting that informs continuous improvements for the next season

Straub uses industry applications that provide real-time updates and reporting for all aspects of production. From shipment tracking and delivery information, status updates are available for each sample along the workflow. The tool provides detailed information for both product and digital asset management.
We have experience and use both API and RESTful integration with multiple clients for expanded Data integration into clients' PLM or specified tools that are dedicated to Product content information. If the protocol is clear and the tool has effective API documentation, then the onboarding process can be reduced in effort. If needed, a flat file approach can also be provided to ingest and carry metadata downstream to DAM. From that integration we would build a requirement of carry through or additional new content to be delivered to DAM. Delivery to DAM can be configured for internal asset with XMP detail or separate feed call if needed, pending the specific DAM solution and its capabilities.
We are dedicated to ensuring our foundations are stable by deploying security that is inclusive of our physical and digital ecosystem. This safety is applied for inbound and outbound information, and we maintain this with support from industry experts and best in class applications through the journey.
At Straub Collaborative we validate process to ensure that both physical and digital merchandise workflow has been implemented and inventory security measures are followed.
- Guidelines, process, and governance.
- Physical security and access control points.
- Digital guidelines and IT control points.
Yes, you can provide taxonomy and embedded metadata requirements for assets. This ideally would align with the provided Sample/Product information that would come from a PIM or another source and or align with the Season/Job name.
Yes, metadata or product information is required for Sample management for QA purpose and detailed description. This also supports downstream delivery solutions if required. From the Product information we can manage inbound ETA as example if client systems handle order management. We use product information to visually check samples on inbound for color and product description. Please see list below of common fields of metadata that would be an expectation or close need of requirement, this is not an exhaustive list as some of our clients provide over 300+ fields of data per product.
- Product ID
- Job Name
- Color
- Description
- Brand
- Category
- Sample Size
- Sample Notes
- Sample Type
- Sample Deadline
- Shot Types
- Shot Angles
- Naming Logics
- Photography Notes
- Styling Items
- Request Due Date
- Requestor
We have most clients provide a flat file outbound on a schedule to provide product information and data needs that drive production via automation and not manual ingest. Manual ingest is an option if form and information are consistent. We directly integrate into PIM for 2 clients but that requires PIM/API documentation and review scope.
Yes, Metadata is provided within each asset and provides what is desired as a full offering. The client is required to provide how Metadata is used downstream from our photography assets, but the recommendation can be provided for some uses such as talent management and usage terms, SEO detailing, ClearText, DAM population and tagging, Categorization and or visibility rules, Confidentiality rules, Tagging opportunity for business channel use such as Retail, Wholesale, Catalog, Social, etc…
Yes, many require adding supplemental metadata such as talent/agency name or detailed product information such as size and weight that may not be captured in a PIM.
The process of metadata flow for product info is either through Flat file or API/RESTful integration on a schedule. In the case of smaller clients, we manually receive information via .XLSX format files or .CSV for a more secure structure.
